I’ve lived in Lancaster County for over 25 years. I’ve spent only about 10 living in Lititz. I’ve been queer for as long as I can remember.
Today was Lititz Pride 2025, and I find myself overcome with emotion.
Every year, I am floored by how the community comes together to support and celebrate our LGBTQ+ community. We are a small town, and the borough is home to only about 10K people. Our surrounding township is very rural, and very conservative.
However, year after year, Lititz shows up. Lititz shows up for equality, compassion and joy.
This year in particular, I was honored to not only offer the opening Meditation for Peace, but also to table for our amazing school, rep for Pride Camp via Gracie’s house, and serve the community through the bakery I work at downtown.
On top of that, I connected with more Lititz and Lancaster friends than I can count.
Business owners. Wellness providers. Movement studios. Healthcare professionals. Not for Profits. Crafters. Musicians. Restaurant owners. All of whom were there to celebrate our community. Every hug, every laugh, every “we need to catch up soon let’s get coffee” was a reminder of how PROUD I am to be a Lititzonian. A Lancastrian. A community member.
We may be a small town but we are mighty.
We are a town where people care and love fiercely. Where roots run deep, and yet we welcome with open arms. Today I was reminded that there is a reason my family and I stay here in Lititz. It’s because together, this small town is working towards a brighter future.
