Sometimes Joy is the Emergency Plan

“Sometimes Joy is the emergency plan….”

I read this quote on social media last night, and it resonated with me.

As winters become warmer

As rain becomes floods

As human beings are disappeared and disrespected

As fear and sadness try to take root deep in our hearts

Sometimes Joy is the emergency plan.

Remembering that

We are all beings of stardust and light

Whether that light is a dim candle flame, or a raging bonfire

Reclaiming Joy is a radical act that anchors us in hope and spirit

Finding Joy in presence of Fear reaffirms to our nervous system that yes

YES

I am in control and my light has not extinguished

Holding the hand of my lover

Touching grass

Growing flowers

Eating good food

Sleeping in when I’m able

Moving my body

Celebrating the sunrise

Wishing on a star

Hold on dearly to these acts of Joy, my friends

THEY will not take control

THEY will not extinguish my light

THEY will not root me in fear and dread

I am here, now

I will breathe deeply

I will hold onto Joy because I Can and I will not give up

I am strong

I am enough

I am a being of stardust and light
